This may be due to induction of incapable minister and parliamentary secretary by the government, the society observed.
SUMA says no to ministerial berths for PDS scam accused
ITANAGAR, May 24: Student Union Movement of Arunachal Pradesh (SUMA) Capital Complex Federal Unit and Papum Pare units strongly urged the Chief Minister not to give ministerial berth to ‘two main PDS scandal accused’ in his council of ministers.
“Since your ministry is for the development of the state no person accused in such scam should be inducted into the ministry,” the representation said.
It urged the chief minister to accommodate ministerial berth to other eligible MLAs representing various tribes of the state besides Nyishi.
They also strongly appealed to the state government to stop PDS payment to FCI contractors from state fund which is meant for infrastructure development.
“SUMA will launch mass agitation if further payment is made to the accused PDS contractors until and unless they are given clean chit by the court,” threatened the representation.

AdiSU reacts to AYA statement
ITANAGAR, May 24: Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU) called upon the Apatani Youth Association (AYA) to cooperate with the investigating agency in unearthing the truth behind the death of Aroty Mize instead of defending the suspect.
Reacting to the press statement given by AYA, which was published in today’s edition of this daily, AdiSU said that the suspect has been detained for interrogation only which is a part of investigation.
“This kind of interference and backing of the suspect by an association must be taken seriously by the investigative agency which may help them find breakthrough in the case,” it said, and termed the press statement very unfortunate.

144 CrPC lifted, ILP, vehicle checking intensified at Tezu
ITANAGAR, May 24: Section 144 CrPC has been lifted in Tezu yesterday by the district magistrate in view of the ‘improvement’ in law and order situation.
However, the district police have intensified motor vehicle and ILP checking in and around Tezu Township, informed Lohit SP Tumme Amo.
According the SP, penalty was imposed to 41 vehicles for violation various sections of MV Act and Rs. 10550 was recovered from the violators as fine.

Tuki bids emotional farewell to outgoing PM
NEW DELHI, May 24: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today bade an emotional farewell to outgoing Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, at the latter’s 7 Race Course Road residence here.
Wishing Dr Singh all the best and a healthy life ahead, Tuki conveyed gratitude and love from the people of Arunachal Pradesh for his constant support and personal interest in development and welfare of the people.

USF students take part in cleanliness drive

ROING, May 24: Officials and staffs of Government District Hospital along with students of University of South Florida (USF) today took part in a cleanliness drive here at premises of District Hospital.

The cleanliness drive was joined by members of Enjalu Menda Women's Empowerment Forum (EMWEF). The volunteers sweated it out for an hour cleaning the female and maternity ward.
Alok Yirang, District Medical Officer (DMO) appreciated the participating students from USF for taking part in the cleanliness drive. "Your voluntarily participation today is a great service offered to the people of Lower Dibang Valley," he said. Yirang also appreciated them for taking part in local Adi festival in Bolung and for taking keen interest in the local culture.
A student from USF while interacting with the medical staffs narrated her experience of how she was fascinated by the rich culture of the Idu Mishmi tribe. "I am greatly indebted to the local people for showering their hospitality to us," said the student.
Later, the USF team members participated in the tree plantation drive at government secondary school in Mayu. The team was joined by local panchayat leaders and school teaching staffs.
The event was participated by Medical Superintendent Dr LC Deori, Dr Ista Pulu, Dr SJ Mitapo and several medical staffs.
